Im using a virtual box with 2009, and one of my friends is downloading 8.1 because he isnt able to get a virtual box. Will we still be able to chat at the very least?
Yes, the versions don't matter when you're talking to each other. Some special features like games might not work if you're not on the same versions, but usually it's fine.
