AIM for current Escargot members

A limited time discount for upgrading your Escargot account to AIM for $1.

If you registered your Escargot account before July 19th, 2024 you can get access to AIM for just $1 (on July 23rd it becomes $2). Normally AIM access (which is in beta over at our sister service NINA) is only available for those who donate $5 or more, but normal is boring so we're doing this promotion instead!

As you know, we do not have ads and do not sell your information, and so we rely on donations to fund hosting and development of Escargot and related services. So even your $1 will help with the project.

Joining in is fairly easy, simply pick a donation method on the donate page and send $1 USD. Be sure to include your Escargot username in your donation message! Once we receive it you will get access. If optionally you include your Discord username in the message as well, we can tell you right when you're given access.

Donations help develop services and host them, including the upcoming Escargot 2.0 (no ETA yet), which is a complete rewrite of the server for better performance and stability, as well as linking in with NINA's AIM, AOL, and ICQ.

How do I know if I am eligible?

If you view this page while logged in, you will receive a notice at the top saying you are eligible.

Is the access permanent?

Yes, you'll always have AIM access on the account

What if I registered on or after July 19th?

As stated above it is only for Escargot users who registered before July 19th.

I donated in the past, where's my access?

You need to contact us with your username, where you donated (PayPal, buymeacoffee, etc), the email/username on that site you used, and the amount you donated.

What if I have more than one account?

You can upgrade as many accounts as you want, each costs $1.

But I thought you could only have one account per user?

No, not true.

Does this come with any other donation benefits?

No, as laid out on the donation page, $5 USD is the minimum donation for benefits. However donations do stack/accumulate, so if you donated $1 today and $4 one year from now, that's still $5 for gamma tier. See the donation page for more information.

Where are my contacts?

For now AIM and MSN are separate services, but will be linked together when Escargot 2.0 is released (no ETA available).

Does this give me access to AOL?

No, AOL is a totally different service from AIM, and AOL is only currently available to donors in the alpha tier.
